Murder home from ‘Halloween’ for sale

Househunters will be screaming with delight to learn that the fictional home of Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis in the iconic “Halloween” franchise, is up for sale.

The slasher flick about murderous escaped mental patient Michael Myers notably features Curtis sitting on the front porch holding a pumpkin as she waited for a ride.

According to the listing, the Pasadena, California residence has been owned by the same family for nearly three generations and boasts a whopping 5258 square footage (488 sqm) alongside four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

As of Sunday, the house is listed to be going for US$1.8 million (A$2.7 million), The NY Post reports.

“Yes, this was a filming location for the 1978 film Halloween, as the house of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis),” writes realtor Heidi Babcock in the property description. “If you watch the film you’ll recognise the infamous stoop that Jamie Lee Curtis sat on, holding a pumpkin.”

In the 2021 sequel, Halloween Kills, a number of firefighters are murdered at the house.

“This exceptional property is a wonderful place to live, work, and play in one of the most desirable communities in greater LA,” Ms Babcock said.

Ms Babcock explained the house was divided into three separate units.

“Unit 1 is a large one-bedroom suite with bath, living room, dining room, kitchen, pantry, utility room, basement and a large, charming river rock porch,” she said. “Unit 2 has two beds and one bath and kitchen, and unit 3 has one bed and one bath, living room and kitchen.”

According to the seller, “each of the three units has picturesque windows and lovely views of the surrounding trees and neighbourhood.”

Ms Babcock said that the home includes a fruit-bearing avocado tree, which was planted by the seller’s grandfather in the 1940s.

“This exceptional property is a wonderful place to live, work, and play in one of the most desirable communities in greater LA,” she continued.

Curtis, 64, first played Strode in the 1978 cult film and reprised the role several times before the franchise’s spooky conclusion in 2022. In February 2022, the Freaky Friday star posted a photo on Instagram calling her last day on set “bittersweet”.

“The last thing I ever thought I would do is another Halloween movie five years ago,” Curtis told People in March.

“And then now I’ve made three of them. They have been incredibly well-received. People love them. This last movie is very emotional, deeply emotional.”

Curtis also revealed that she cried on the last day of filming.

“I’m a sobber. I said goodbye to a crew of people who have been so generous to me, who were so warm and loving to me. Because Laurie Strode had the ‘S’ kicked out of her — she emotionally had so much going on, this sweet girl — and they were always there. It was hard to say goodbye to them,” said the A Fish called Wanda star.
