NFL tips

Baltimore Ravens to beat Pittsburgh Steelers

The Ravens and Steelers go into Sunday’s contest in contrasting situations. The Ravens seem to be building into good form, with a solid victory last week against the Browns, whereas the Steelers are off a crushing defeat in Houston.

The Ravens were really good last week and figured out a Browns defence who were destroying opposition offences with ease last week. They were patient and ran the game well and Lamar Jackson was tremendous in the redzone.

The difference in this game might be injuries, the Ravens are getting a lot of their top players back, including the essential Marlon Humphreys, while the Steelers are banged up and missing various key players. Additionally, first choice Quarterback Kenny Pickett has surprisingly recovered from a bad looking injury on Sunday, but hasn’t looked great even at full health.

New Orleans Saints to beat New England Patriots

It has been a sorry start to the season for New England. The perennial champions look far away from the Tom Brady years and look devoid of ideas. When it rains it pours, and they lost two of their brightest players in Matthew Judon and Christian Gonzalez to injury last week in their 38-3 defeat to the Cowboys. This seems a recipe for a home defeat against a Saints side with the ability to further the punishment.

The Saints have been a bit hot and cold this season. Starting the season 2-0 with narrow victories against the Saints and Panthers was followed by a narrow defeat in Green Bay and a disappointing effort against Tampa. They were fancied to win the NFC South pre-season and a third defeat in a row would be a real setback to their ambitions.

Quarterback Derek Carr has some solid options to punish a weakened Patriots secondary. In particular look for special second year receiver Chris Olave to cause the Patriots various headaches.

Houston Texans to beat Atlanta Falcons

Houston are really enjoying life under rookie QB CJ Stroud and head into Atlanta hoping to build on last week’s big victory against the Steelers. They face an erratic Falcons side likely to be suffering after a defeat last week at Wembley. This feels like a game where the confident team secure the win and that would be Houston.

Stroud has jumped out to a really positive start in the NFL and looks at home in the Texans offence. He has also identified a special receiver in Nico Collins who has been a really help as Stroud adapts. Confidence is high and they can continue to move the ball at ease.

Atlanta have a real strength in their running game, but their Quarterback Desmond Ridder’s weaknesses have been exposed since a bright start to the season. Teams are stacking the boxes against the Falcons and asking them to throw, which Ridder is struggling to do.
