NYS Fair concert canceled Wednesday; Fleetwood Mac tribute booked as replacement – syracuse.com

One of Wednesday’s free concerts at the New York State Fair has been canceled, but a tribute to one of the biggest bands of the ‘70s and ‘80s has been lined up as a replacement.

The Seven Wonders, a Rochester-based tribute to Fleetwood Mac, will perform at the NYS Fair’s Chevy Court stage on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 1 p.m. The concert is free with admission.

The Fleetwood Mac tribute show will replace R&B singer Danielle Ponder, a fellow Rochester musician, who had to cancel two weeks of performances “due to unforeseen circumstances,” Fair officials said Monday.

“I am not feeling well, and normally I would push through but my body is begging for a break,” Ponder wrote on Facebook.

The Seven Wonders formed in 2017 with musicians Teagan Ward, Matthew Stephens, Katy Eberts, Jon Sheffer, Matt Ramerman, Kyle Vock, and Taylor Lee Smith. The group is known for their high-energy performances and renditions of Fleetwood Mac hits like “Dreams,” “Go Your Own Way,” “Rhiannon,” and “Landslide.”

This will be The Seven Wonders’ second performance in Syracuse this month, after playing Middle Ages Brewing Company last week. The concert was rescheduled from July after a car accident on the New York State Thruway; Eberts was injured but is recovering, with Mel Muscarella filling in for her in the interim.

The Seven Wonders will join Wednesday’s Women’s Day lineup, which also features Chapel Hart at Chevy Court at 6 p.m. and Ann Wilson (of Heart) at Suburban Park at 8 p.m.

The 2023 New York State Fair runs through Sept. 4. All concerts are free with admission, which is $6 for adults and free for seniors 65 and older and kids 12 and under.
