Oklahoma country music star Zach Bryan explains his side of story after arrest in Craig County – KOCO Oklahoma City
Oklahoma country music singer Zach Bryan took to social media to explain his side of the story following his arrest Thursday in Craig County.Online records show that Bryan, who is from Oologah, was booked into the Craig County Jail around 6:45 p.m. Thursday on an obstruction of an investigation complaint. No charges have been filed, and authorities have not released the circumstances surrounding Bryan’s arrest. Shortly before 4 a.m. Friday, Bryan posted a video on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, saying he wanted to be transparent about the arrest. Click here to watch the video.”I want to start by saying I have to deal with the legalities of it, I did go to jail, they didn’t play favorites, and I was an idiot today,” Bryan said. “And my decisions do not reflect who I was as a person. I should have been smarter about it.”Bryan went on to say that he was driving in a small Oklahoma town about three days ago when he was pulled over after allegedly going four or five mph over the speed limit. He told the officer he didn’t feel comfortable providing his address because he’s a musician, and the officer allegedly responded by saying he’d have to take him to jail if an address wasn’t given.Bryan said he refused to give the officer his address, and he got out of the car and was put into handcuffs. After talking with the officer, Bryan said he eventually gave his address, was let go and was given a warning.On Thursday, Bryan said he decided he was going to drive to Boston and let his security guard know. While Bryan and the security guard were driving through Vinita, an officer pulled over the security guard.Bryan said he turned around and pulled up next to his security guard’s vehicle. After about 10-15 minutes, Bryan said he got out of his car, and the officer told him to get back in his vehicle. “I get too lippy with him. He brings me over to his car, and I just did not help my situation at all,” Bryan said. “I felt like a child. It was ridiculous. It was immature, and I just pray everyone knows that I don’t think I’m above the law. I was just being disrespectful when I shouldn’t have been, and I shouldn’t have been. And it was my mistake.”Bryan goes on to say that he was put into handcuffs and continued to “mouth off” to the officer. He said he understood the officer was just doing his job and that he was upset.The officer allegedly told Bryan that he was going to say something and that he didn’t want to be interrupted. While the officer was talking, Bryan said he interrupted him and was taken to jail. “He said, ‘I’m going to take you to jail,’ and he took me to jail,” Bryan said. “I was in jail for a few hours.”Bryan later issued an apology on social media.”Today I had an incident with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Emotions got the best of me and I was out of line in the things I said,” Bryan posted Thursday night. “I support law enforcement as much as anyone can, I was just frustrated in the moment, it was unlike me and I apologize. Prayers we can all move on from this and prayers people know I’m just trying the best I can, I love you guys and I am truly sorry to the officers.”Law enforcement officials have not commented about the arrest or released information about the incident.
