Fans of Jimmy Buffett in Cincinnati are grieving the legendary singer who died Friday night. He was 76 years old.Buffett’s fans proudly call themselves “Parrotheads.”Legend has it that the colorful Parrothead nickname originated in Cincinnati at a Timberwolf concert. For his fans, Buffett was more than a musician, but the balladeer of a better way of life.Buffett was best known for his hit song “Margaritaville,” which inspired a chain of restaurants and resorts. A statement posted to his website and social media reads, “Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September first, surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs.”It goes on to say, “He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.”Buffett has a dedicated fanbase here in Cincinnati, serving up cheeseburgers in paradise Saturday morning.”Going though a lot of emotions this morning, grief, pain, joy. Trying to focus on the joy. The man brought a lot of joy to the parrothead family,” said Patty Doak, President of Cincinnati Parrotheads club.There are plans to open up a Margaritaville resort in Newport.That project will bring 200 jobs to the city.The hotel has a target completion date of 2026.
