Riverwind Casino announces additional musical acts – Casino City Times

17 July 2023

(PRESS RELEASE) — Riverwind Casino is expanding its 2023 performance lineup with the addition of three country music shows and the first announcement of its shows in 2024, featuring one of the top R&B/pop groups of its era.

Joe Nichols and Tyler Farr perform in the Showplace Theatre on Friday, 22 September, starting a run of country-music shows that includes Aaron Lewis, Flatland Cavalry, and Lee Brice.

To kick off 2024, legendary R&B act Boyz II Men is set for a Friday, 12 January appearance at Riverwind.

More details about the just-announced performers:

Joe Nichols and Tyler Farr – 7 p.m., Friday, 22 September
Joe Nichols has been a mainstay of country music for more than two decades, bridging the gap between the genre’s old-school roots and contemporary era. He’s a 21st-century traditionalist – an artist who’s both timely and timeless, racking up more than two billion streams, a half-dozen No. 1 singles and ten top-10 hits with a sound that honors his heroes. From his first radio smash, 2002’s “The Impossible,” to his most recent, “Good Day For Living,” his first top-20 single in nearly a decade, Nichols has proudly done things his own way, blurring the boundaries between country music’s past and present along the way. It’s an approach that has earned Nichols multi-platinum success, three Grammy nominations, a CMA award and an ACM trophy.

Tyler Farr is the first artist signed to Jason Aldean’s Night Train Records/BBR Music Group. The country-rocker, with three No.1 songs to his credit (“Redneck Crazy,” “Whiskey in My Water” and “A Guy Walks Into a Bar”) broke onto the scene with the 2013 release of his debut album, “Redneck Crazy,” which landed at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200. Farr’s platinum-selling title track “Redneck Crazy” projected him forward to celebrate back-to-back No. 1 singles, including his first No. 1 as a songwriter, with his platinum-certified hit “Whiskey in my Water.” His sophomore album, “Suffer In Peace,” followed suit, also making its debut in the top five on both the Billboard Top 200 Albums and Billboard Country Albums Charts, leading Farr to become the only solo male country artist in the past decade to have their first two studio albums debut in the top five on the Billboard 200 Chart.

Flatland Cavalry – 8 p.m., Friday, 10 November
After years of hot-trotting across their native Texas, the country outfit Flatland Cavalry is primed for a breakout with the release of their third full-length album, the sonically sprawling and wistfully written “Welcome to Countryland.” The Texas sextet – bandleader and chief lyricist Cleto Cordero, guitarist Reid Dillon, bassist Jonathan Saenz, drummer Jason Albers, fiddle player Wesley Hall and utility instrumentalist Adam Gallegos – continue to embrace their trademark sound while further pushing into the wild unknown.

Lee Brice – 8 p.m., Friday, 15 December
With more than three billion on-demand streams and more than 3.6 billion spins on Pandora, Curb Records recording artist Lee Brice continues to enjoy massive success at country radio, digital streaming services and on the road. He recently reached No. 1 at country radio with “Memory I Don’t Mess With,” which consecutively follows three prior No. 1s: ASCAP’s 2021 Country Song of the Year “One of Them Girls,” “I Hope You’re Happy Now” with Carly Pearce and “Rumor,” which was nominated in the category Single of The Year at the 55th Annual ACM Awards. One of the most-played country artists of all time on Pandora, he was the second country artist behind Keith Urban to receive the Pandora Billionaire plaque. Lee is also a Grammy nominee, a CMA and ACM award winner, and he’s taken nine radio singles to No. 1: “A Woman Like You,” “Hard to Love,” “I Drive Your Truck,” “I Don’t Dance,” “Drinking Class,” “Rumor,” “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” “One of Them Girls” and “Memory I Don’t Mess With.”

Boyz II Men – 8 p.m., Friday, 12 January 2024
Boyz II Men redefined popular R&B and continues to create timeless hits that appeal to fans across all generations. The band has penned and performed some of the most celebrated classics of the past two decades, including “End of the Road,” “I’ll Make Love to You,” “One Sweet Day,” “Motownphilly” and many others. The group’s four Grammy Awards are just the tip of the iceberg: throughout their 30-year career, Boyz II Men have also won nine American Music Awards, nine Soul Train Awards, three Billboard Awards, a 2011 MOBO Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as well and a Casino Entertainment Award for their acclaimed residency at the Mirage Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, which launched in 2013.
