Shock claim after horror crash kills siblings

Tiana Savignano was in court to support her boyfriend, Johnson Kokozian, earlier this month when she was arrested and charged by police over the crash in Sydney’s west.

Police allege the 22-year-old concealed a serious indictable offence and hindered their investigation following the crash that killed Alina Kauffman and teen brother Ernesto.

Following further investigations, police on Sunday charged Ms Savignano with filming part of a court hearing for one of five people charged in relation to the collision.

Police issued the pregnant woman with a court attendance notice at a Cecil Park address in relation to the charges as well as 31 further unrelated driving offences, including drink-driving.

The alleged offences include more than 10 counts of driving while using a mobile phone and while her licence was suspended as well as driving with an unrestrained child in the car.

Ms Savignano is further accused of exceeding speeds of 20km/h above the speed limit while on a P1 licence, and three counts of driving recklessly and in a dangerous manner.

The charges come as five people face court over the horror crash in the city’s west, including Ms Savignano’s partner who was allegedly driving at the time.

Police allege Mr Kokozian, 20, was behind the wheel of a black Mercedes when it collided head-on with a Toyota Echo shortly after 9pm in Heckenberg on September 1.

Paramedics treated the driver of the Echo, Alina Kauffman, 24, and her teen brother Ernesto at the scene, but the siblings died as a result of the crash.

Mr Kokozian was arrested 18 hours later after handing himself into police and charged with six offences, including two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death.

The court was previously told that Ms Savignano and Mr Kokozian allegedly tried to prevent police from “appropriately investigating this matter” or capturing “critical” evidence.

Mr Kokozian’s 61-year-old father, Johnson Kokozian, and passenger Cruz Pamoana Davis-Tuka, 21, were also charged with concealing a serious indictable offence and hindering police.

A fifth person, a 20-year-old woman, has also been charged by police but is yet to be named by police. All five people remain before the court and have not entered pleas.

Ms Savignano was granted strict conditional bail that bars her from accessing social media earlier this month and will reappear before Liverpool court on September 26.
