Leading the pack of finalists for the 2023 Billboard Music Awards is global sensation Taylor Swift. The singer-songwriter emerges as a finalist in an impressive 20 categories, notably for her hit Anti-Hero, which is up for five awards. Morgan Wallen and SZA closely follow with 16 awards and 17 entries each, making them the second most nominated artists in the BBMAs’ 69 categories.

Diverse Finalists and Notable Entries

Morgan Wallen and SZA’s multiple entries are matched by The Weeknd, up for 13 awards with 16 entries, and Drake, a 14-category finalist and record-holder for the most BBMA wins with 34. Newcomer Zach Bryan, a first-time finalist, stands out with 13 nominations and 14 entries, while Luke Combs secures 10 nods. Several other artists secure multiple nominations, promising a diverse and competitive awards ceremony.

Top Contenders for the Coveted Awards

Swift, Wallen, SZA, Drake, and Combs find themselves contending for the coveted Top Artist category . Swift, already the most decorated female BBMAs artist with 29 wins, could surpass Drake as the all-time winningest BBMA artist with five wins this year. If she secures the Top Artist award, Swift would tie Drake for the most wins in that category with three.

Noteworthy Album and Song Nominations

Morgan Wallen emerges as a leading male finalist with nominations for his album One Thing At a Time and his song Last Night. SZA’s album SOS competes for top Billboard 200 album and top R&B album, while her song Kill Bill contends in four categories, including top Hot 100 song.
