Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ Release Date Hints

[ad_1]

Just when we thought Taylor Swift had achieved max Easter Egg abilities, we realize the we mere mortals aren’t even close to understanding the depths of her hint-dropping genius.

Case-in-point: The release date for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), which Taylor has been not-so-subtly telling us over and over for literally months now.

So, ICYMI, on Friday, Taylor announced that her next re-recorded release, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), will be released on July 7. In the tweet about the news, she wrote:

“It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk ) I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness. I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing… and living to speak about it. With six extra songs I’ve sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) with you on July 7th.”

Even though the *official* announcement that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will be released on July 7 was posted on May 5, 2023, Taylor has actually been hinting at the date, repeatedly and not all that subtly, since at least October 21, 2022, when the “Anti-Hero” music video dropped. Then she renewed the SAME DAMN HINT in the “Bejeweled” video (which premiered on October 25, 2022) and AGAIN in the “Lavender Haze” music video (which was released on January 27, 2023).

The hint, in case you didn’t catch it, was that all three videos featured koi fish.

Why was this a hint about the exact release date for Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)? Because, as TikTok user @bethany_pendleton13 points out, July 7 is National Koi Fish Day. Yep.

Here’s a closer look at some of the appearances koi fish have made in Taylor’s Midnights Era music videos:

“Anti-Hero”

In the “Anti-Hero” music video, Taylor plays the same koi fish guitar she famously played an acoustic guitar decorated with koi fish on her Speak Now World Tour.

“Bejeweled”

In the “Bejeweled” music video, there are koi fish in the stained glass window in the castle Taylor keeps after dumping the prince.

“Lavender Haze”

And koi fish appear multiple times in the “Lavender Haze” video, including on the TV screen with the weather report:

And, of course, swimming in the clouds around Taylor:

So, yeah. Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is coming out on July 7, aka National Koi Fish Day.
