TikTok star’s absurd coke lie to police
A TikTok star who was busted hiding a bag of cocaine in his pants tried to convince police the illegal drug was sugar powder that he needed “for the gym”.
Eessa Abdallah appeared in Sydney Downing Centre Local Court on Monday after pleading guilty to supplying a prohibited drug and deemed supply of an illegal drug.
The 22-year-old is a well-known social media personality whose comedic skits, food videos, and unfiltered opinions have attracted more than 610,000 followers on TikTok.
He was supported in court by prominent social media influencers Vanessa Khalife and Seljan Ozan, who have amassed 224,400 and 64,300 followers respectively on the popular platform.
Dressed in a beige turtleneck and black pants, Abdallah appeared contrite as he faced court after admitting to dealing more than 5g of cocaine in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
On March 25, the court was told the social media star drove to an address in Darlinghurst and supplied just over 1.1g of cocaine in exchange for $600.
The drugs were contained in two clear bags stamped with green cannabis leaves.
Just over a month later, Abdallah was spotted by police stopping outside a pub in Paddington before making several calls and circling the block.
He was acting in line with “common drug supply modus operandi”, police state in the agreed facts.
When police stopped the 22-year-old, they found 10 small bags of cocaine hidden inside a pencil case in the glovebox.
Despite being caught red-handed, the facts show the influencer brazenly lied to police and told them the white powder was “glucose” that he used “for the gym”.
He was strip-searched and police found another bag of cocaine hidden inside his track pants, which he argued must have fallen through a non-existent hole in his pocket.
In total, police found 11 bags of cocaine weighing more than 4g which they believe Abdallah intended to supply to buyers.
On Monday, his lawyer Mohammed Shukur said the 22-year-old had been dealing drugs to fund his own cocaine addiction.
“He has since ceased taking drugs,” he told the court.
“He’s cut out the negative influences which have led him down that path.”
The court was told Abdallah had been dealing drugs while he was serving a good behaviour bond imposed on him after he was busted in possession of more than 2g of cocaine and more than 7g of cannabis.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Theo Tsavdaridis noted Abdallah had been in “poor mental health” at the time of the offences and had since engaged a psychologist.
He found the TikToker had accepted responsibility for his role in the “dial-a-dealer” operation and was at low risk of reoffending.
Mr Tsavdaridis convicted Abdallah and sentenced him to an 18-month community corrections order with conditions that he attend drug rehabilitation and complete 120 hours of community service.
He warned Abdallah that the consequences would be severe if he was involved with illegal drugs for a third time.
“The community is well and truly sick of this type of behaviour,” he said.
The social media star looked relieved as he left court flanked by his high-profile friends.
According to their social media accounts, the influential trio spent Sunday night sipping on cocktails at a bar in south western Sydney before heading to court on Monday morning.
Just an hour before appearing in court, an Instagram story showed the three glamorous TikTokers clutching coffees with the caption “We acting like we slept (laughing emoji)”.
