Donald Trump is running a campaign advert attacking Fani Willis, the district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, just days before she is expected to become the latest prosecutor to indict him.

The commercial, which is airing in Atlanta and other cities including New York and Washington, takes shots at Ms Willis, who has been investigating the former president’s alleged attempts to overturn Joe Biden’s win in the state in 2020.

A previously unseen legal memorandum by a lawyer from former president Donald Trump’s failed 2020 re-election campaign laid out how the ex-president’s efforts to interfere with certification of that year’s electoral college results were meant to buy time and delay the quadrennial joint session at which Mr Trump’s defeat to Joe Biden would be made final and official.

The memo, which was first reported on by The New York Times, was referenced in the four-count indictment returned against former president Donald Trump by a Washington DC grand jury last month. It was authored by Kenneth Chesebro, an attorney affiliated with the Trump campaign who is described — but not named — in the indictment as an un-indicted co-conspirator in Mr Trump’s alleged conspiracy to obstruct certification of the 2020 election.

Washington, DC Federal District Judge Tanya Chutkan chose to ignore the latest delay attempt by Donald Trump’s legal team when scheduling a hearing regarding a protective order to prevent the former president from sharing certain details set to be revealed in the discovery process.

This comes after Mr Trump’s lawyers appeared to ignore the judge’s orders in their latest filing in the case related to his attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Eight Republican presidential candidates have met the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) new criteria to participate in the first GOP debate on 23 August.

Donald Trump may be eventually forced to return millions of dollars of campaign funds he raised after the 2020 elections on fraudulent claims, a retired FBI official said on Tuesday.

Frank Figliuzzi, a former FBI assistant director, said it “isn’t over” for Mr Trump after he was indicted over alleged efforts to overturn 2020 election results in charges led by special counsel Jack Smith in federal district court in Washington DC.

They have been accused of attempting to delete security footage and obstructing federal investigations after the government subpoenaed it in their investigation.

A grand jury in Fulton County, Georgia could be asked to return a fourth set of criminal charges against former president Donald Trump as soon as next week, according to multiple reports.
