The Spaniard now heads to the USA one year later as the star of tennis after an historic triumph over Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon.

The rivals will headline the action once again with Djokovic returning to compete in the States after missing last year’s event due to being denied entry to the country because of Covid restrictions.

Britain’s Cameron Norrie and Andy Murray are also expected to compete at the tournament but 2021 champion Emma Raducanu will miss out through injury.

Iga Swiatek will be looking to defend her title from last year but will face fierce competition from the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina.

US Open 2023: Prize money

The total prize money for the 2023 US Open will be confirmed closer to the start date.

But in 2022, the prize fund pool for the tournament was £14.5million.

This money was distributed between all the competitors with the men’s and women’s singles champions taking home £2.6million.

The prize money is likely to be even higher this time around after winnings at Wimbledon last month broke records.
