WC Puts Westside Connection Drama Down To The ‘Real Life Behind The Music’ – HipHopDX

WC has addressed Ice Cube’s lack of interest in getting the Westside Connection back together, attributing it to tensions that mounted behind the scenes.

In an interview with TMZ posted on Thursday (July 13), Cube immediately shut down any hopes of reuniting the trio. Regarding the disappointment fans feel at the members not reconciling their differences, he said: “I don’t care about how they feel.”

That same day, WC also shared his thoughts on the ordeal that traces back to bad blood between the former N.W.A rapper and Mack 10.

“Music is one thing, but real life behind the music is another,” he said. “If there’s no gellin,’ y’know, there’s no music.”

Despite saying that he had “nothing but love” for both rappers, the L.A. rapper said he would not attempt to mediate a settlement between Cube and Mack. “I can’t make anybody do anything they don’t wanna do,” he explained.

Still, he remains hopeful that the West Coast collective might one day all perform together again, provided “things is worked out between Cube and Mack.” Watch the entire chat below.

WC’s comments come after Ice Cube stopped by The Breakfast Club earlier this week, where he made it clear that a reunion between himself, WC and Mack 10 is unlikely.

“Probably not,” Cube said plain and simply about getting the group back together. “I don’t wanna do another Westside Connection.”

When Charlamagne Tha God noted Mack 10’s 2020 comments about reuniting and the fact he’s told his side of their beef more than once, Cube replied: “Of course he do [get to tell his side often]. I don’t wanna talk about it, to be honest, because he know what it is.”

Mack 10 Says Westside Connection Fizzled After Ice Cube’s Brother-in-Law Caught A Fade

In an interview with the Murder Master Music Show in August 2020, Mack 10 was asked about what it will take to facilitate a Westside Connection reunion. The veteran MC said he’s more than willing to reconnect for another LP, putting the onus on Cube to make it happen.

“That’s the question of the year, bro!” he said. “I don’t know, man. People asked me that and I really don’t know what it’ll take. I’m down, I’m sure Dub is down. Somebody probably gotta ask Cube what it’ll take because I really don’t know.”

He added: “[Fans] ask me in traffic and everywhere. Might be at the red light or something and somebody will recognize [me]. ‘Man, what’s up Mack? What’s it gonna take to get another Westside Connection album?’ And my answer is the same every day: I don’t know. I really don’t though.”

Westside Connection hasn’t released an album together since 2003’s Terrorist Threats. As of 2020, Mack said he hadn’t spoken with Cube in 10-15 years.
