Charleston’s Scottish Games and Highland Gathering, organized by the Scottish Society of Charleston, will transport you to Scotland for the day to celebrate rich culture. Enjoy events ranging from athletic competitions and Highland dancing to live music and border collie demonstrations. Guests are encouraged to visit the genealogy tent and the clan tents to learn about their respective history and impact on American culture.

Charleston Beer Week Munkle Luau
Kick off the weekend with a Hawaiian-style Charleston Beer Week event. Munkle Brewing is hosting a Luau-inspired Lowcountry pig roast with a 100-pound local hog rubbed down with Hawaiian black salt, cacao husks and Kona coffee. Guests can expect delicious meat accompanied by tropical sides and three new beers — a Passion Fruit Tripel, Pineapple Wit and Mango Lager. Prizes will be awarded to guests wearing the best Hawaiian shirts.

Dia De Los Perros Festival
Lowcountry Dog magazine is hosting a Dia De Los Perros Festival at the Tattooed Moose on Johns Island. The magazine is throwing the bash to promote adorable adoptable dogs. Dress in your best getup for the costume contest and enjoy live music, local vendors and food and drink specials from the Tattooed Moose.

Charcuterie workshop
Test your food display skills with Sullivan’s Board Company at a charcuterie workshop. Lacey, the Head Cheese at Sullivan’s Board Co., will guide guests and teach various skills and techniques to build a unique 8-by-8-inch box designed for two people to enjoy. Learn cheese carving, meat folds, fruit carving, assembly techniques and grocery shopping tips to show off at your next dinner party.

City Paper Music Awards
Charleston’s favorite live local music show returns this year to the Music Farm. Winners of this year’s City Paper Music Awards will be announced during the showcase. During the showcase, local musicians — nominees and winners alike — will perform.
