2023 AT&T Byron Nelson odds, picks, field: Surprising PGA predictions, bets from model that nailed nine majors

[ad_1]

The 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson is set to get underway on Thursday, May 11, and a number of players will enter this week’s event confident they can secure the victory. K.H. Lee is the back-to-back defending champion of this event, and he’s coming off a T-8 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship. Lee enters the AT&T Byron Nelson 2023 as one of the most accurate iron players on tour, ranking 30th in greens in regulation percentage (68.38%).

Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler, the No. 2 ranked player in the world, can add to his impressive resume with a victory at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson. Scheffler has two wins already this season, and he’s finished T-10 or better in four of his last five starts on the PGA Tour. The latest 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson odds list Scheffler as the 9-2 favorite, while Lee is going off at 18-1. Before locking in your 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June of 2020. In fact, the model is up over $8,400 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model predicted Jon Rahm would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. And at the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm’s second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner.

In addition, the model included Nick Hardy and Davis Riley in its best bets to win the 2023 Zurich Classic. That bet hit at +4500, and for the entire tournament, McClure’s best bets returned over $1,100. McClure’s best bets also included J.T. Poston winning outright at the 2022 John Deere Classic, even though he was listed as a massive 55-1 longshot.

This same model has also nailed a whopping nine majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson field is locked, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the AT&T Byron Nelson 2023: Lee, the two-time defending champion, stumbles this week and barely cracks the top 10. Lee joined elite company last year when he successfully defended his AT&T Bryon Nelson title, joining Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson as the only golfers to do so in the tournament’s history.

He can become the 10th man since World War II to win an event on the PGA Tour three straight years, but the model is not high on his chances. Lee has struggled with consistency this season, finishing outside the top 20 in 12 tournaments. He also ranks 91st in putts per round (28.76) and 97th in one-putt percentage (40.30%), which does not bode well against several elite golfers in the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson field.

Another surprise: Adam Scott, a 35-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. Scott has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.

The 42-year-old is coming off a T-5 finish at the Wells Fargo Championship, and he’s recorded 14 victories on the PGA Tour in his career. He’s also been extremely effective off the tee this season, ranking 27th in driving distance (308.2) and 29th in strokes gained: off the tee (.377). He’s averaging 28.5 putts per round this season, but if he’s draining putts this week, he’ll have a great shot at finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson. See who else to pick here
