Eddies regional music awards announce 2023 nominees – Times Union

Singer-songwriter Buggy Jive leads nominations with four total, followed by Brick By Brick, Jim Gaudet & The Railroad Boys, Jocelyn & Chris, Michael Eck, Reese Fulmer & The Carriage House Band and Sydney Worthley, who each have three. Overall, 209 artists and organizations are nominated across 34 categories, including Times Union contributors Jim Shahen Jr. and Joseph Dalton for “Music Journalist of the Year” and the Preview section for “Arts Publication of the Year.” Members of the Capital Region music community nominate and vote on the recipients.

The Eddies introduced an advisory council comprising members from the music community to meet throughout the year with Eddies founder Jim Murphy and administrator Kelly Auricchio for this year’s awards. The inaugural committee includes Julia Alsarraf, Greg Bell, Wanda Fischer, Andy Gregory, Mario Johnson, Jason Keller, Pete Mason, Matt Mac Haffie, Kevin McKrell, Keith Morales, Steve Nover, Truemaster Trimingham, Al Quiglieri, Paul Rapp, Zan Strumfeld, Alex Torres, Chris Wienk and Don Wilcock. Blues artist Thomasina Winslow, who died earlier this year, was also a member.

Earlier this week, the Eddies inducted eight local artists into the Eddies Music Hall of Fame. Inductees included Martin Benjamin, Mike Campese, Felicia Collins, Wanda Fischer, George Frayne, Smokey Greene, Sister Mary Anne Nelson, CSJ and John Tichy.

The Eddies Music Awards will take place at 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 30 at the MainStage at Proctors. The Eddies will announce the list of performers mid-April. Tickets are available now online.
